New Everton boss Marco Silva has targeted a £30million move for a Newcastle defender, while Inter Milan have stepped up their interest in a Man Utd star, according to Monday’s papers.
EVERTON TO LAUNCH £30M BID FOR NEWCASTLE DEFENDER
New Everton boss Marco Silva is reportedly ready to take advantage of uncertainty at Newcastle with a £30million bid for Jamaal Lascelles. The Toon skipper is the main player Silva wants to bolster his defence after his recent arrival at Goodison Park.
Silva sees the 24-year-old as a long-term partner for Michael Keane at the heart of the Toffees’ defence, as Ashley Williams and Phil Jagielka are both getting towards the end of their careers.
Lascelles could be up for grabs given the doubts over Rafa Benitez’s future as Newcastle boss, with the Spaniard yet to agree a new contract at St James’ Park, as reported in The Sun.
Liverpool have also been tracking the former Nottingham Forest star, who has been tipped as a future England international, as Jurgen Klopp still eyes a central defensive partner for the outstanding Virgil van Dijk.
