Tottenham are monitoring the situation surrounding Real Madrid star Gareth Bale and could launch a move to bring him back to North London this summer, a report claims.Rumours over the future of the Welshman continue to intensify after comments he made following Real’s 3-1 Champions League final win over Liverpool in Kiev.
He has been linked with a move to Old Trafford, but Real bosses immediately slapped a £200m price tag on the 28-year-old, although reports on Tuesday claimed that Bale could cost as much as £335m.
The Independent claims that Spurs may present a bid to secure a sensational return just in time for the opening of their new stadium.
The paper says sources close to Bale believe he would be open to a return to Spurs, and could even be willing to make a financial compromise if a deal could be arranged.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly told the club to make a big statement in the summer window, and Tottenham would be willing to offer Bale a £200,000-a-week deal, one similar to Harry Kane’s.
Sources claim that £200k-a-week is roughly the same as what he earns in Madrid after tax, but other sponsorships take him over £500k.
